Driving 12v Steppers at 90V? (1 reply)

I am starting a large CNC build and I have a general Stepper motor question.

I bought 3 Nema 23 steppers with the following specifications.

12V, 0.68A, 30mH, 200 steps a Rev

On my test rig I am running the motors at 19V and I'm only getting around 2 revs per second.

If my calculations are correct I should be technically able to drive these at 173V

1000 * SQRT(0.030) = 173 Volts

Since I only need around 10 revs per second would it make sense to drive this motor at 90V? Is it going to overheat or skip steps?
